Key Responsibilities: What You’ll Be Doing
As a Gautrain Train and Station Cleaners, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Train Cleaning: Performing thorough interior cleaning of Gautrain carriages, including seats, floors, windows, restrooms, and waste receptacles, during and between operational hours.
- Station Cleaning: Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of station platforms, concourses, public waiting areas, restrooms, offices, and staff facilities.
- Waste Management: Proper collection, sorting, and disposal of waste and recyclable materials.
- Sanitization: Applying appropriate cleaning agents and techniques to sanitize high-touch surfaces to prevent germ transmission.
- Equipment Maintenance: Proper use, cleaning, and storage of all cleaning equipment and materials.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and Gautrain’s operational procedures.
- Reporting: Reporting any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards observed during cleaning duties.
- Flexibility: Working various shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
Train Station Cleaners Minimum Requirements: Do You Qualify? For Gautrain Jobs
To be considered for these critical Gautrain Train and Station Cleaners positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent (Grade 12 preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience in cleaning (preferably in a public transport, hospitality, or high-volume commercial environment) will be a distinct advantage.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and carrying cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Reliability: Proven record of punctuality, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Communication: Basic communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Legal Status: Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
- Availability: Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
