As a Finishing Operator (Printing), you’ll be instrumental in our production team, ensuring all machinery within the finishing department operates smoothly. This includes the Guillotine, Folding, and Stitching Machines. Your commitment to detail and adherence to guidelines will be crucial in delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for these Finishing Operator (Printing) roles, you’ll need:
- Experience:
- 2-3 years’ experience in the Print Industry.
- 2-3 years’ experience with Finishing Equipment.
- Knowledge:
- Experience with the Finishing process.
- Understanding of the Printing/Litho industry.
- Availability: Must be willing and able to work shifts.
Advantageous:
- A valid Driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
Your role as a Finishing Operator (Printing) will involve a variety of operational duties, ensuring both efficiency and high standards:
Operational Duties:
- Accurately follow instructions from the Team Leader/Operations Manager.
- Proficiently understand and operate Cutting, Folding, and Stitching machines according to industry specifications.
- Thoroughly understand work tickets before starting any job.
- Set machines correctly to match required job specifications and docket sizes.
- Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and adhere to scheduled maintenance plans.
- Report maintenance problems via the correct system and follow established procedures.
- Verify all job processes meet customer requirements and sign-offs.
- Report on all downtime and breakages promptly.
- Participate in the production of Lithographic printing, including collating, paste-up, packing, counting, machinery usage, and controlling wastage and raw material consumption.
- Perform quality control checks on all printed jobs.
- Ensure production deadlines are met.
- Alert the Factory Manager/Operations Manager about necessary equipment and stock purchases.
- Provide other production/printing department duties as required.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager regarding printing and machinery at the factory, and conduct timely repairs.
- Conduct weekly stock counts of Factory stock items as directed.
- Oversee the destruction of obsolete publications as approved.
- Complete job cards for every printing task.
- Strive to limit high levels of wastage.
- Safeguard company assets, raw materials, and finished goods at all times.
- Ensure machines are secure at the end of each shift.
- Regularly test and maintain machines.
- Accurately count print runs and raw materials.
- Accurately pack routes.
- Complete accurate reconciliations and production schedules.
- Be willing to train existing and new team members impartially, fostering growth and development.
Quality Control/Health and Safety:
- Comply with all company policies and procedures (dress code, uniforms, safety wear, smoke breaks, confidentiality, operational processes, etc.).
- Adhere to all health and safety standards implemented at the Factory.
- Comply with SHE & OSH act requirements, promoting a “Zero Injury” culture.
- Be aware of fire hazards and report risks to the Factory Manager.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Ensure machinery is maintained and weekly housekeeping tasks are completed.
