SANDF MSDS Military Application Forms

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) presents an opportunity for unemployed youth to engage in the Military Skills Development System (MSDS) for the year 2024. This comprehensive program spans 24 months and operates across all nine provinces of South Africa.

The MSDS enables South African citizens to serve in any of the four branches of the military under a two-year contract. Recruits undergo military training and specialized functional training in their first year of service. In the second year, they practice their specialization at a designated base nationwide.

  • Must be a South African Citizen (No dual citizenship).
  • Age between 18 and 22 upon joining (completed Grade 12 or N3 with 6 subjects, including two languages), or not exceeding 26 with a 3-year tertiary qualification (Degree, National Diploma, or N6 with N4 and N5 prescript).
  • Preferably single.
  • Meet medical fitness criteria for appointment in the SANDF.
  • Currently in Grade 12, completed Grade 12, or equivalent, with subjects relevant to chosen career path.
  • Not bound by specific geographical location.
  • No criminal record.
  • Comply with all other prescribed SANDF appointment requirements.
  • Willingness to relocate and participate in deployments within South Africa and abroad if necessary.
  • Recommendation by a selection board.
