Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management
- Manage cost per unit for whole blood and specialized collections by planning and packing consumables according to targets.
- Maintain and validate equipment to ensure timely repairs.
- Report discrepancies in consumable stock deliveries and usage to the Clinic Supervisor.
2. Customer and Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain positive relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Welcome donors, assist with registration, and guide them through the donation process.
- Address donor complaints and queries promptly and professionally.
- Coach team members on delivering exceptional customer service.
3. Internal Processes
- Collect whole blood and apheresis units to meet assigned targets.
- Assist with setting up and packing equipment for blood drives.
- Conduct donor assessments, document results, and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide post-donation care and advice to donors.
- Respond to emergencies by administering First Aid/CPR as needed.
4. Learning and Growth
- Perform Clinic Supervisor duties as required.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and contribute to team development.
- Assist in identifying training needs and managing staff competency.
5. Governance and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SANBS policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Manage medical waste disposal according to SOPs.
- Maintain accurate staff and equipment records.
Minimum Requirements For SANBS Vacancies
Education:
- Diploma/Degree in General Nursing Sciences.
- Code B or EB Manual Driver’s License.
Experience and Knowledge:
- 2 years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Knowledge of SANBS policies and procedures.
- Understanding of Standards of Practice for Blood Transfusion in South Africa.
