Job Description SABS In-Service Trainee Program

The key purpose of the SABS In Service Trainee role is to provide students from Agricultural Institutions with the required work experience or experiential learning, as outlined in the SETA’s Work Experience (WE) Grant Funding Policy. This experience is essential for students to obtain their qualifications.

Key Outputs and Responsibilities SABS In-Service Trainee Program :

• PC Literacy: Proficiency in computer skills.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in teams.
• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
• Passion for Growing: Enthusiasm for agricultural practices.
• Hard Work: Willingness to undertake challenging tasks.
• Language Skills: Conversational ability in Afrikaans is advantageous.
• Educational Requirements: Currently studying towards a National Diploma in Agricultural Management (or equivalent). The work experience must be a requirement for completing the diploma.

Minimum Requirements:

• 12-Month Program: Complete a 12-month in-service program in line with SETA and Academic Institute guidelines.
• Experience Across Departments: Gain experience in various value chain and service departments, providing relevant support.
• Hop Farming: Learn and execute milestones in hop farming practices.
• Job Duties: Perform duties as specified in the job description for each field.
• Academic Completion: Fulfill all academic requirements as defined in the work experience program.
