Job Description:
As a SHER Risk Intern at RCL Foods, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the company’s safety, health, environment, and risk management frameworks. This internship offers hands-on experience in maintaining and improving existing systems, particularly the ISO45001 Management System, as well as ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Aid in the improvement, maintenance, and monitoring of management systems and standard operating procedures, with a focus on the ISO45001 Management System.
- HSE Compliance: Ensure adherence to all company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) processes and procedures.
- Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with authorizations, guidelines, and legislation. Create action plans for addressing non-compliance.
- Proactive Inspections: Plan and execute both scheduled and unscheduled safety inspections. Generate detailed reports from these inspections.
- Emergency Equipment: Ensure that fire extinguishers and first aid boxes are serviced and comply with safety standards.
- Risk Assessments: Participate in risk assessment processes, conducting and reviewing assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Reporting: Compile and submit weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc safety reports.
- Emergency Drills: Organize and conduct emergency response drills to ensure preparedness.
- Incident Investigations: Collect and compile information for incident investigations and assist in the analysis.
- HSE Information: Ensure that HSE information is appropriately displayed on noticeboards across facilities.
- Meeting Minutes: Attend HSE statutory meetings and document the minutes.
- CAPA Management: Assist in managing the Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions (CAPA) System, driving compliance and improvements.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Diploma in Health & Safety (or currently studying towards one).
- SAMTRAC certification (advantageous but not mandatory).
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong administration and internal compliance abilities.
- Project management skills.
- Proficiency in reporting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
