Netcare Pharmacy Stock Clerk Role Summary

The Pharmacy Stock Clerk is responsible for capturing goods received onto the Netcare stock system, collating and filing corresponding documents, and producing bar-code labels. This role requires liaising with CPD clerks regarding supplier payment queries and rotating between the pharmacy, theatre stock rooms, and wards as needed.

Key Work Output and Accountabilities

  • Ordering and Receiving: Manage stock orders from suppliers and couriers.
  • Stock Room Management: Maintain shelves according to FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) and FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Communication: Assist stock controllers, pharmacists, doctors, and nurses with product-related queries.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and nursing staff.
  • Internal Processing: Process stock for internal departments and inter-clinic sales.
  • Replenishment: Replenish surgical stock in wards and theatres.
  • Data Capture: Enter goods received into the Netcare Stock System and produce GRVs (Goods Received Vouchers).
  • Documentation: Collate and file documents according to Netcare Stock System policy and produce accurate bar-code labels.
  • Tracking: Check and track documents as per policy and ensure timely transmission according to schedules.
  • Administrative Tasks: Manage associated administrative duties effectively.
  • Payment Queries: Liaise with CPD clerks for supplier payment queries.
  • Stock Management: Assist in managing stock in line with Netcare’s stock management policy, focusing on designated stock areas.
  • Stock Take: Participate in cyclical and full stock take processes.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Stock Controller.

Netcare Pharmacy Stock Clerk Skills Profile

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 certificate.
  • Mathematics is advantageous.
  • Completion of a short course in Basics of Stores and Stock Control is advantageous.

Work Experience for Netcare Pharmacy Stock Clerk

  • Experience in a medical environment.
  • Knowledge of surgical and ethical stock products.
  • Intermediate computer literacy.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy/theatre store is an advantage.

Knowledge

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, SAP, and Internet).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain effectiveness during changing conditions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and establish good working relationships.
  • Knowledge and experience of a pharmaceutical stock control system.
