Main Purpose of the Mediclinic Porter Role
The Porter will support hospital operations by transporting and escorting patients, equipment, files, and related items safely between different hospital departments. The role also involves assisting in emergency evacuations while upholding Mediclinic values and ensuring patient dignity and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort and transport patients to designated locations safely.
- Assist with emergency evacuations within the hospital.
- Perform driving duties as required, following hospital policies.
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Grade 10 (Essential).
Experience:
- Minimum: Client services or dealing with the public.
- Preferred: Healthcare support experience (e.g. care work).
Skills and Knowledge:
- Valid driver’s license with PDP.
- Understanding of the Patient Rights Charter.
- English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
- Knowledge of medico-legal risks and hospital safety protocols.
- Familiarity with two-way radio systems and Microsoft Office.
- Awareness of Health and Safety Act regulations.
- Internal evacuation and emergency response procedures.
