Purpose: for Johannesburg Water Meter Reader
The primary responsibility is to ensure the accurate and consistent reading of water meters, maintaining a high level of integrity in the process.This position involves reading water meters accurately and consistently to maintain data integrity. Key responsibilities include confirming routes on GIS maps, verifying meter locations, recording data for new or changed meters, and advising customers on leak detection. The role requires at least two years of meter reading experience in a municipal environment, a Matric qualification, and a solid understanding of the meter reading process.

Key Responsibilities: Johannesburg Water Meter Reader
- Confirm and plot walling routes, GIS maps, and data on electronic devices and manual spreadsheets daily.
- Provide input to the Senior Meter Reader regarding route anomalies or the need for reordering.
- Accurately locate water meters using addresses, GIS, and meter numbers for verification.
- Identify and record data for new or changed meters.
- Ensure submission of manually recorded data and perform revisits on no-access codes daily for assigned routes.
- Engage in data cleansing activities, including unmetered or unbilled properties, meter master data, and initial property usage data on questionnaires.
- Advise customers on how to detect leaks to reduce water wastage or high bills.
- Log customer service issues encountered on route using relevant codes, such as leaking/burst water meters, leaking/burst pipes, blocked/damaged sewer pipes, or external utility issues.
Job Requirements: Johannesburg Water Meter Reader
- Matric (NQF 4) is essential.
- A minimum of 2 years of periodic meter reading experience in a municipal environment.
- In-depth knowledge of the meter reading process.
