General School Assistant – Job Responsibilities
Sport and Enrichment Assistants (SEA)
- Support learners in sports, arts, music, and cultural activities
- Promote a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment
- Assist teachers with enrichment programs during and after school
Handyman/Woman Duties
- Maintain school infrastructure, including gardens, classrooms, and grounds
- Perform basic repair and maintenance tasks
- Ensure a clean and secure school environment
Job Requirements
Who Can Apply for General School Assistant Vacancies
- South African youth aged 18–34 years
- Must reside within 5km of the school (or 30km if rural/farm school)
- Must be NEET: Not in Education, Employment, or Training
- Not currently receiving government stipends, salaries, or NSFAS/Funza bursaries
- No Matric required, but trade certificates are an advantage (for handymen/women)
- Must have a clean criminal record and pass SAPS clearance
- Not previously employed in BEEI Phase I, II, or III
- Valid SA ID or Passport is required
Benefits and Compensation
- Monthly stipend of R5,200 (1% UIF deducted)

- Contract duration: 19 May 2025 to 30 December 2025 (5–8 months)
