City of Johannesburg Transport Department Internship Details

Internship Position: Assets Intern
Internship Stipend:
- Graduates (Completed 360-credit Qualification): R10,109.56 per month (basic salary, no benefits)
- Current Students (Enrolled): R3,500.00 per month (basic salary, no benefits)
Work Location: 75 Helen Joseph Street, Old Mutual Building, Johannesburg
Eligibility Criteria:
- Grade 12/Matric plus a Diploma in Accounting Sciences, Management Accounting, or a related qualification (NQF Level 6).
- Enrollment confirmation from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and account for movable and immovable assets.
- Capitalize assets across Johannesburg’s seven regions.
- Monitor Assets Under Construction (AUC) / Work in Progress (WIP).
- Conduct asset verification for audit and reporting purposes.
- Maintain asset records and provide administrative support.
- Handle accounts payable, raise accruals on SAP, and process insurance claims.
Skills and Competencies:
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of administration, accounting principles, and supply chain management (SCM) policies.
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, integrity, and professionalism.
- Commitment to Batho Pele service delivery principles.
