Job Overview
Foskor is seeking an experienced Foskor General Manager to oversee Maintenance and Projects within the Mining Division. This strategic leadership role ensures operational efficiency, engineering compliance, and the successful execution of capital initiatives across all plant and mine operations.
Purpose of the Job
The Foskor General Manager – Maintenance and Projects will lead the development and execution of asset reliability, capital expansion, and compliance strategies. This role supports the business’s production goals through innovative maintenance solutions and disciplined project management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Essential)
- Postgraduate qualification in Engineering (Essential)
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC Mines and Works) (Essential)
- Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- MBA, MBL, or master’s in operations management (Advantageous)
Experience Required:
- 15+ years in chemical, metallurgical, or heavy industrial environments
- 8+ years in a senior leadership role within maintenance or engineering
- Proven record in managing CAPEX projects exceeding R50 million
- Strong regulatory, stakeholder, and union engagement experience
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy and Execution
- Develop long-term maintenance strategies for fixed and mobile assets.
- Align technical objectives with Foskor General Manager leadership vision.
Asset Reliability and Performance
- Utilize predictive tools to enhance performance and ensure compliance.
- Benchmark against KPIs like MTTR and MTBF for robust maintenance planning.
Capital and Operational Projects
- Deliver end-to-end projects within budget and timelines.
- Lead contractor oversight and project governance as part of Maintenance and Projects.
Governance and Legal Compliance
- Ensure adherence to MHSA, DMR, and SANS codes.
- Maintain documentation to support Foskor General Manager mandates.
Shutdown and Emergency Maintenance
- Lead shutdowns with strategic safety and execution planning.
- Optimize recovery through robust maintenance schedules.
Budget and Cost Control
- Manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets linked to Maintenance and Projects.
- Drive initiatives to lower lifecycle costs and optimize energy use.
