Job Description:
The Department of Tourism invites interested candidates to join the Tourism Monitors Program, based at Thohoyandou Botanical Garden in Limpopo, for a period of twelve months. This program offers a unique opportunity to monitor and support tourism activities in your local area.
Candidates are encouraged to apply to municipalities and establishments within their residential communities. If selected, you will sign a 12-month contract with a service provider chosen by the Department of Tourism and work at attractions and sites close to your residence.
The program will consist of 12 months, with three months dedicated to theory training and nine months for practical training. We also welcome applications from people living with disabilities.
Disqualification Criteria:
To ensure fairness in the selection process, please note the following disqualification criteria:
- Only one learner per household is eligible to apply.
- We do not accept affidavits as proof of residence.
- We do not accept faxed or emailed applications or documents.

Applicants Meeting Requirements:
Applicants who meet the following requirements will need to submit a comprehensive curriculum vitae (CV) along with certified copies of qualifications, identity documents, and proof of residence (not older than three months):

- South African citizenship (Certified copy of an Identity Document).
- Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 to 35.
- Possession of a matric certificate or equivalent qualifications.
- Literate and proficient in English.
- Additional qualifications in tourism or related environmental fields are advantageous.
- Reside within a 28km radius of the attractions or sites. Proof of residence required (e.g., municipality bill or letter from a tribal authority or ward councilor).
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and as required.
- A passion or interest in the tourism sector.
Please note that shortlisted candidates will undergo interviews in their local areas and will need to complete a medical examination and a criminal record check before acceptance into the program.
