Overview for the Unisa Over-the-Counter Assistants:

Unisa’s KwaZulu Natal Region is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Over-the-Counter Assistants. These positions are crucial for the efficient distribution of study materials to students choosing the counter collection option during registration.

Eligibility Unisa Over-the-Counter Assistants:

  • Applicants previously employed by Unisa on a fixed-term basis are not eligible.
  • Must provide proof of current registration at Unisa.

Role Purpose:

To assist in the Counter Warehouse with the picking, packing, and shipping of parcels to ensure students receive their study material efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate
  • Completion of at least ten (10) modules and currently registered as a student at Unisa

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel)
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Abilities:

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must be accurate and able to concentrate for extended periods
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and systems
  • Prepared to work overtime if necessary

Duties:

  1. Picking, packing, and shipping of study parcels.
  2. Removal of uncollected study material after three days, unless prior arrangements are made.
  3. Recording and tracking collected study material.
  4. Assisting with other Warehouse operations as required.
  5. Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety protocols.

Salary:

Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position.
