The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is offering Pre-Assessment Consultant vacancies in key provinces for professionals experienced in claims processing. These vacancies are ideal for individuals looking to build a public sector career and help citizens affected by road accidents.

Purpose of the RAF Consultant Vacancies

These vacancies are for individuals who will perform pre-assessment duties for claims applications. You’ll ensure documents meet RAF’s legal and operational standards, while guiding claimants through the initial application phase.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Assessment of Claims

  • Log all documents submitted for claims
  • Review claim eligibility and benefits
  • Assess document compliance based on RAF guidelines
  • Apply lodgement and prescription rules
  • Identify duplicate or related claims
  • Confirm death records via the Department of Home Affairs
  • Communicate assessment results to applicants

2. Quality Assurance

  • Implement and uphold quality standards in all assessments
  • Monitor and report unusual or complex claim issues

3. Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of acknowledged claims
  • Prepare documents, letters, reports, and presentations
  • Respond to written queries professionally

4. Reporting

  • Monitor performance targets
  • Report risks and suggest improvements
  • Create ad hoc reports for management

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain good communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide regular feedback on claim progress
  • Respond to queries within turnaround time

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a claims or insurance environment

Skills and Competencies

  • Solid understanding of RAF products and Motor Vehicle Act
  • Knowledge of PFMA and MVA legislation
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong ethics, client focus, and attention to detail
  • Time management, planning and coordination abilities
