About the National Gambling Board (NGB)

The National Gambling Board (NGB) is a Schedule 3A public entity established under the National Gambling Act (Act 7 of 2004). As the primary regulator of the gambling industry in South Africa, the NGB’s mission is to ensure a fair, safe, and responsible gambling environment. The Board works to maintain uniform norms and standards across all provinces, oversee national compliance, and lead enforcement efforts to protect citizens and ensure the integrity of the industry.

Available Internship Opportunities

The NGB is offering an internship opportunity in the following critical department:

  1. Enforcement Internship
  • Reference Number: NGB/Int 003-2025
  • Monthly Stipend: R12,000

Qualification Required: A recognized National Diploma (NDip) or Bachelor’s Degree in Law / Policing / Criminology / Forensic Investigation or a related field.

What you will do: As an Enforcement intern, you will be immersed in the core regulatory functions of the NGB. You will gain practical experience in investigating complaints, monitoring compliance with national gambling legislation, assisting with enforcement operations, and understanding the legal processes involved in regulating the industry. This role is ideal for those passionate about justice, law, and maintaining ethical standards.

Who Should Apply?
To be eligible for the NGB Internship Programme, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Have completed a relevant qualification (as specified above) and be in possession of a completed certificate.
  • Have not participated in any previous internship programme.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Show a keen interest in pursuing a career in the public sector, specifically in regulation and enforcement.
