Role Summary:

The Maternity Ward Administrator is tasked with overseeing all secretarial and administrative functions within the ward. This includes welcoming new patients, visitors, and doctors, ensuring a warm and friendly atmosphere. Collaborating with the stock controller, maintaining stock levels is crucial, and assisting the Unit Manager and ward staff is essential.Get Ready and Apply Now

  • Liaise with patients, relatives, doctors, and external organizations for effective public service.
  • Handle equipment, maintenance, and stationery requisitions.
  • Manage stock control and inventory management.
  • Proactively manage patient files.
  • Control and manage visitor access.
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere in the ward/reception area.
  • Promote positive staff morale.
  • Update and supply records, reports, and statistics.
  • Attend scheduled training and development sessions.
  • Assist Unit Managers in monitoring off-duties, leave, and cost containment.
  • General administration, reception duties, and phone answering.
  • Order stationery and meal tickets.

Skills Profile:

Education:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification.
  • Secretarial/Business Administration qualification advantageous.
  • Computer literacy.

Work Experience: Maternity Ward Administrator

  • 2-3 years in a secretarial position.
  • Previous administrative experience in a medical environment advantageous.
  • Experience in a nursing environment highly recommended.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Kronos, SAP, and OrderCo advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
