The Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) is inviting applications for its Graduate Internship Programme 2025–2027, also known as Project 20K. This national initiative offers thousands of internship placements for unemployed South African graduates across all nine provinces.

The internship runs for 24 months (two years), offering valuable public service experience and a monthly stipend of R7 860.50.

The closing date for applications is 21 November 2025.


About the DEL Graduate Internship Programme 2025–2027

This opportunity is open to unemployed graduates who have not participated in an internship before. The Department aims to enhance youth employability by placing graduates in structured training programmes that develop practical and professional skills.

Preference will be given to applicants from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, and persons living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens aged 18 – 35 years.
  • Hold a National Diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in a relevant field.
  • Be unemployed and have not participated in any previous internship.
  • Be willing to work in the province where they apply.
  • Meet qualification criteria recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Stipend and Duration

  • Stipend: R7 860.50 per month
  • Duration: 24 months (2025 – 2027)

Applicants must:

  1. Complete the new Z83 application form (available at www.dpsa.gov.za or www.labour.gov.za).
  2. Attach a detailed CV and certified copies of ID and qualifications.
  3. Quote the correct reference number for the desired province or internship stream.

The deadline for submissions is 21 November 2025 at 16:00 (walk-in) or 00:00 midnight (online).
