About the Position
A leading construction company is seeking a skilled Field Agent to join its team in the Eastern Cape on a 12-month contract. The Field Agent will bridge communication between site personnel and the Plant Director, focusing on addressing plant-related issues to ensure equipment availability and efficiency. This role involves overseeing workshop staff across multiple sites, ensuring all repairs are completed accurately, promptly, safely, and cost-effectively.
Key Requirements for Kwena Human Capital Field Agent – Construction
- Education: Grade 12
- Qualifications: Qualified Earthmoving/Diesel Mechanic
- Experience: 7-10 years in the Construction and Earthmoving sector
- Licenses: Code 8 and 14 licenses with a PDP
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in hydraulic systems, engine mechanics, transmissions, and electrical systems; capable of reading and interpreting hydraulic/electrical diagrams
- Mechanical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical principles and machinery operation, repair, and maintenance
- Skills: Skilled in troubleshooting, vehicle operation, mathematical cost estimation, and computer skills for documentation
- Safety and Compliance: Knowledgeable of Occupational Health and Safety Act, ISO 9001 and 14000 standards, and the Labour Relations Act

Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations:
- Conduct daily briefings with mechanics on new repairs and updates.
- Coordinate with Workshop Foreman on repair needs and components.
- Collaborate with Site Agents to align plant requirements with planned downtimes.
- Oversee site progress, ensuring compliance with schedules, especially in tasks like chipping and milling.
Repair Management:
- Report significant repair needs to the Plant Director.
- Provide detailed fault lists and instructions to mechanics.
- Monitor repair progress, supporting mechanics with troubleshooting and solutions.
- Ensure operators conduct daily checks on machinery, compiling fault lists as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to safe work procedures and ensure use of PPE.
- Maintain discipline and compliance with company policies.
