The Department of Defence is seeking qualified candidates for Accounting Clerk: Supervisor positions (5 posts) within the Financial Management Division. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in finance and accounting, particularly in the public sector. The selected candidate will oversee financial management services, ensuring compliance with financial policies and supporting budget management functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial management services within the designated unit.
- Budget execution and monitoring.
- Ensuring compliance with financial governance policies.
- Overseeing Financial Management System (FMS) operations.
- Implementing the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
- Assisting with Estimate of Expenditure (EOE) preparation.
- Budget control and expenditure monitoring.
- Providing financial reports and internal control mechanisms.
- Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with 3–5 years of experience in finance/accounting.
- National Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting preferred.
- Understanding of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
- Knowledge of financial systems, budgeting, and risk management.
- Experience with government finance regulations and financial reporting.
Financial Management & Compliance
- Implement financial policies and frameworks.
- Ensure budget allocation and expenditure monitoring.
- Support audit preparations and financial risk management.
- Extract and analyze financial reports for stakeholders.
- Provide financial guidance to department heads.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong financial reporting and budget management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
