Minimum Requirements
- Port Commander: Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7), 8 years of experience in law enforcement, 4 years in management
- Regional Commander: Postgraduate degree (NQF 8), 10 years of border/security experience, 5 years in senior roles
- Experience in aviation, maritime, or land border law enforcement preferred
- Strong knowledge of the Border Management Authority Act, SA Constitution, and regional/international security protocols
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work extended hours or travel
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will oversee critical border law enforcement operations, including:
- Coordinating security across ports of entry
- Managing integrated law enforcement teams
- Preventing illegal activities and ensuring compliance with national and international standards
- Stakeholder engagement and service-level management
- Budget planning, risk mitigation, and staff performance oversight
