About the Programme

Eskom, South Africa’s leading electricity public utility, is inviting applications for the Learner Artisan Apprenticeship Programme 2026.

This opportunity is based at Kendal Power Station in Mpumalanga and offers successful candidates the chance to receive both institutionalised and on-the-job technical training within the Maintenance Department.

The programme aims to develop skilled artisans in the mechanical and control & instrumentation (C&I) fields, equipping them to meet the operational needs of Eskom and the broader energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

During the apprenticeship, learners will:

Undergo institutionalised training at an Eskom-approved training centre.
Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship within the Maintenance Department.
Gain hands-on experience in technical problem-solving and maintenance operations.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess one of the following:

National N6 Certificate with Trade Subjects (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics), or
National N4 / N5 Certificate with Trade Subjects, or
Grade 12 (Matric) with:
- Maths (50%)
- Physical Science (50%)
- English (40%), or
N3 Certificate with:
- Maths (50%)
- Science (50%)
- English (40%), or
NCV Level 4 Certificate with:
- Maths (50%)
- Science (50%)
- English (40%)

Experience

No prior experience is required. Successful applicants will be placed in Eskom Operations across various divisions after the recruitment process.
