Salary Scales
- CB1-1: R212,358 per annum
- CB1-2: R257,895 per annum
- CB1-3: R313,521 per annum
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric / Grade 12.
- Mandatory Training: Successful completion of the Correctional Science Learnership / Basic Training.
- Experience Requirements:
- CB1-1: No previous experience required.
- CB1-2: Ten (10) years of relevant experience at the CB1-1 level.
- CB1-3: Ten (10) years of relevant experience at the CB1-2 level.
Key Competencies
- Technical: Firearm competency and computer literacy.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the Correctional Services Act, Minimum-Security Standards, and relevant policies.
- Skills: Strong report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Access Control: Manage entry and exit points at the centre and between internal areas.
- Inmate Movement: Control and monitor the movement of inmates both internally and during external transfers.
- Guarding: Guard inmates within the facility and at external public institutions (e.g., hospitals or courts).
- Inspections: Perform regular physical security inspections and manage security control rooms.
- Asset Control: Manage stores and specialized security equipment.
- Rehabilitation: Foster a safe and humane environment conducive to the correction and development of offenders.
