The Mogale City Local Municipality, situated in the West Rand District of Gauteng, is offering an exciting Plant Production Learnership Programme 2025 for unemployed youth residing within the municipality.

This 12-month, non-renewable learnership aims to develop essential agricultural and environmental skills among young people, contributing to local economic development and sustainable growth.

About the Programme

The Enterprise and Rural Development Division of Mogale City Municipality is offering 25 learnership opportunities in Plant Production (NQF Level 3, ID 49052).

The programme provides both theoretical and practical training in agriculture, tourism, environmental studies, and horticulture — empowering participants to pursue careers or entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

This initiative supports the Municipality’s mission to promote youth empowerment, skills development, and employment equity in alignment with the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998.

Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged and disabled persons residing within the Mogale City Local Municipality.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent with Mathematics (Pure Maths or Maths Literacy).
  • Aged between 18 and 35 years and unemployed.
  • Must reside within Mogale City Local Municipality (proof required).
  • No criminal record.
  • Not currently participating in another SETA programme or receiving NSFAS funding.
  • Applicants with N6 qualifications should not apply.
  • Must be a South African citizen.

Key Learning Outcomes

Successful learners will gain:

  • Competence in plant production techniques and farm management.
  • Exposure to environmental and tourism-related practices.
  • Understanding of agricultural sustainability and food security principles.
