Key Responsibilities

Governance and Communication

  • Build and maintain partnerships with district and provincial stakeholders.
  • Provide pharmaceutical management support to district teams.
  • Participate in key task teams and technical working groups such as CCMDD, SVS, and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS).
  • Ensure compliance with PTC policies and report programme activities regularly.

Supply Chain Management

  • Identify and address gaps in medicine availability.
  • Support the implementation of quality improvement plans in collaboration with the Department of Health.
  • Mentor and train pharmacy personnel to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Promote rational medicine use and ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practices and National Core Standards.

Professional Development

  • Identify training needs and coordinate capacity-building sessions.
  • Implement differentiated training and development initiatives.
  • Support ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for pharmacy teams.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Compile and report on monthly and quarterly statistics.
  • Monitor CCMDD and ADR frameworks and ensure data accuracy.
  • Conduct operational research and patient satisfaction surveys.

Programme Implementation

  • Supervise Pharmacist Assistants and support hospital pharmacy operations.
  • Ensure effective implementation of SOPs and District CCMDD plans.
  • Support Pick-up Point (PuP) registration, training, and compliance monitoring.
  • Liaise with Provincial Medicines Liaison Officers (PMLOs) to ensure programme alignment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • BPharm Degree
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-community service experience

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification in Pharmacy or Public Health
  • Experience in PEPFAR-funded programmes
  • HIV/AIDS Management course certification
  • Tutor registration with SAPC
  • 5 years’ experience post community service
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and public-sector experience
